In 2016 ORION – TECNOLOGIA & DESIGN opened a new futuristic plant in Via dei Gelsi in Calenzano, Florence. After twenty successful years, the management chose to look forwards and place itself at the forefront among the outfitters in Italy and Europe.
The Orion project, born twenty years ago, had the objective of creating a domestic leader in the production of ambulances. Today, the group can safely say that it has won this challenge, by opening a new bigger and futuristic plant that can hold a production line rather than the classic production isles. It is one of a kind in the whole of Europe for ambulances and emergency vehicles.
Orion has a new plant where about 50 employees work with devotion. They have a production area of almost 7,000 square metres at their disposal, of which 4,000 are covered. The areas have been engineered and designed with the zero impact philosophy. For this reason production standards are now the highest certified ones, the savings in terms of energy are guaranteed and the production capacity will increase and may be progressively integrated. The new building has an energy efficiency class of A+ and will produce electrical energy thanks to 80KW of solar panels, reducing not only waste, but also increasing the quality of the working environment through lighting controlled by home automation circuits and heating operating with renewable energy sources. Orion has always been very mindful of the health of its employees and clients, indeed all the office flooring is self-sanitizing with the innovative patented Pure-Health system.
Orion has chosen Tuscan expertise as its partners: builders, designers and materials all come from Orion’s operational area, respecting a tradition that in the Calenzano area is a distinguishing feature. This is why in 2017 Orion will celebrate twenty years of passion and work for the rescue services. Two decades in which technology and design have been merged to deliver ambulances and special-purpose vehicles that are perfect for Italian rescuers.
